The Town of Krotz Springs

Incorporated in 1917, Krotz Springs is surrounded by a ring levee for flood protection. Known as the “Gateway to the Atchafalaya”.

The Town of Melville

Founded in 1889, this community was noted in Louisiana and national news reports in 1927, when the Atchafalaya River broke through its levee nearby and the “Great Flood” inundated the town. Today, the community is surrounded by a ring levee for flood protection.

The Village of Palmetto

Founded in 1888 and incorporated 1912. The Village of Palmetto is a small quaint village located in the northeast corner of St. Landry Parish.
