Church Point was incorporated in 1899.
In 1995, the Louisiana State Legislature designated Church Point as the “Cajun Musicians Capitol”. This event occurred because there are over 150 Cajun musicians who live in the community and surrounding area. The Town is also known as the “Buggy Capitol of Louisiana.”
Cajun Ladies of Church Point
Is comprised of a group of residents who dress up in traditional Cajun attire – long dresses and bonnets – and promote the community at various functions and events, including the Church Point Buggy Festival and Cajun Day. Organized in 1971/font>
Le Jour des Cajuns
Held the second Sunday of November. A long established annual celebration featuring Cajun music and dancing, food, and the crowning of the Cajun Queen. Sponsored and produced by the Saddle Tramp Riding Club.
